Description
TemplateAntique iron currency "TOPOKE DIHUNGA"
recognized and used for major transaction by the Topoke people. Spectacular shape, similar to a long lance, it was done by very able smiths by soldering two sheets together and decorating with a chisel along the entire length. It was possible to buy a free woman as a wife with 40 to 50 Doa, larger currency worth 3 times a Dihunga. They were then displayed outside the hut as testimony to the status of the bride and groom. Original patina, an unfortunate bent in the middle, not completely broken, please see photos. Democratic Republic of the Congo, early 20th century.
