    Description

This is a very nice Corbin crank type doorbell in perfect working condition. A single turn of the crank, in either direction,  will produce 5 loud rings.  Corbin made one of the best crank type doorbells. They are well made and are an improvement over the earlier Taylor doorbells. The bell and crank have been refinished and are ready to be hung on your door. Crank type doorbells are easy to install and, except for the mounting screws, only require a single small hole through the door. The bell could also be mounted through a wall by adding an extension to the crank rod.
The 4 1/2" diameter bell is made of brass with a polished finish. The back plate is made of cast iron. The equally attractive crank is made of brass and is about 4" across. The bell should fit a door up to 2 1/2" thick
. The back plate has a patent date of June 4, 1872.
Crank type doorbells are one of the earliest types of doorbell and are especially novel with a crank being used to ring the bell. If you want one of the best crank type doorbells that is both very attractive and reliable you may want to consider this bell.
You may be able to find a similar bell cheaper but you will will spend many hours to get the bell in the condition that this bell is in. It is unusual to find a bell in this condition with an even gap between the bell and back plate, no cracks or bends and a very attractive crank that is not bent.
